This research capstone is a finishing project for which STEM senior graduating students are expected to integrate and apply what they have learned through previous academic work and field experiences, with faculty supervision. Research capstone STEM senior students meet in class as a group, reporting on the progress of their projects, discussing their research, and screening prototype media for peer and faculty critique and suggestions. At the conclusion of the semester, students present their research capstone projects to the HCHS faculty.

Yearbooks compile memories of events and people involved in a specific school during a given year. In a manual way of compiling a year book, loads of paper works will be involved. Collecting significant photos and events that happened during the school year to be included in the yearbook is quite hard due to physical barriers. Also, in the conventional way, productions of yearbooks through hard copy are quite costly and time consuming. The conventional way is very inefficient and inconvenient for both the students and the staffs involved.

Understanding Chemistry - Online Project

Understanding Chemistry - Online Project
Knowing and understanding Chemistry can benefit people in different ways and can help them in the field that they partake in, specifically for this project, it is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The students were tasked to create a video about the different lessons in Chemistry. Through this video project, the students will be able to review their chemistry and the skills associated with it. It will also help them in the development of skills that facilitate project management, graphic design, and excelling in the use of PowerPoint presentations while fostering teamwork and developing their oral and written communication skills.
​In each group, there are three members, one group with five members, and they are given one whole chapter to focus on and work on. They have the freedom to choose three or more lessons that are associated with the chapter as they see fit. After accomplishing it, they are required to give a summary of the chapter they have worked on and will later pass it.
​Another purpose of this project is to help fellow students from other schools or other places to understand the different lessons in Chemistry should they find themselves having a hard time understanding their own lessons. The video projects are a way of sharing HCHS-SHS students' knowledge about Chemistry with others, creating a collaborative system that engages others to learn and expand their own knowledge. 
​Additionally, this website is another part of their projects in Research Capstone. Getting acquainted with the basics of Website Development - however challenging - is essential for STEM students as some are about to catapult into fields that include Information Technology (IT) and other related fields. They were divided into groups, delegating each group a different task.

Smart Teaching Board

Smart Teaching Board
The images and videos below show students who graduated in the year 2019 working on their Research Capstone project. This batch created a STEM Smart Teaching Board. The board then allows people to press a button per each set of answers and the machine will detect the correct answer. Upon clicking the right choice the machine will light up a green LED and red if wrong. Though it may not present exactly how the project was made, these photos were taken as the students were in the process of making their outputs

Due to the circumstances, the graduating batch of S.Y. 2021 have created various capstone projects following the limitations and protocols of the pandemic. The following groups are as follows:
Plastic Bottles Recycling
A group of students created a chair made from recycled materials.
School Renovation Plans (Vision 2025)
A group of students has decided to create school renovation plans that include floor plans, as well as some equipment for certain areas of the school.
Student Documentary During COVID-19
In line with the pandemic, this group of students created a documentary for the students attending online class during COVID-19.
Online Chinese Game
Considering Holy Cross High School is a Chinese school, this group created an online Chinese game in hopes for students to continue learning the language despite the current situation, while having fun simultaneously.
Senior High School  Grads Dashboard
Lastly, the group of students who compiled data from the previous batches of senior high in Holy Cross High School. This group created the online Senior High Dashboard from the first batch of students to the currently graduating batch. The video below shows the group working behind the scene of their final Research Capstone project.
