For the first time after two years came the much-awaited inauguration of this year's intramurals. The event, though shorter than past sports fests, is still one of the most anticipated events on everyone's minds. The revival of the school's intramurals served not only to advocate for a more active student body after 2 years of sedentary online classes but to reignite the bonds of camaraderie and friendship that can be found only in interaction through sports.
Holy Cross High School generally kicks off its intramurals with a torch run and a speech given by either Dr. Lim or Fr. Garry. After this comes to the raising of the banners. Each banner represents the grade that it belongs to. A race with these banners then occurs to see which grade level can hoist theirs up a pole the fastest.
Once the officiating ceremony comes the games, the gym is split into different areas for different sports. Sports usually occur simultaneously with a fixed schedule that has been decided and organized during the prior week that leads to up to intramurals. Each sport will also have its own officiating teachers stationed at whatever part of the gym the sport will be set. This year's sports list will include basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and chess. Furthermore, the tournaments for the mentioned sports will follow the single elimination format.
