Fire Drill Seminar

It is normally during this time of the school year where the school decides to review the level of preparedness both teachers and students have in regards to disasters. Most commonly is the re-introduction of what to do during such disasters via drills. Furthermore, professionals are also brought to the school to further impart the needed knowledge to equip students with the skills to respond to these situations. The most disaster drills tackled by the school are about fires and earthquakes.

Since the start of face to face classes finally resumed, the need to update the disaster preparedness of the student body was the next step for the school. In line with this, Holy Cross High School invited firefighters from our very own Dumaguete City Fire Department to enlighten our students on the necessary information needed before, during, and after the outbreak of a potential fire. Not only did they brief everyone on important notes, but they also demonstrated in real-time the proper ways to kill a fire.
Fire Safety Tips:
1. Have an Ecape Plan
Make sure escape routes from each room are mapped and every family member knows where the fire safety meeting spot is outside the home.
2. Know How to Use Fire Extinguishers
Use a fire extinguisher when the fire is confined to a small area, such as a garbage can and it isn't growing. To use, remember the word "PASS."
3. Use Caution with Candles
Never leave burning candles unattended. Keep candles at least 12 in. away from anything that could catch on fire, such as curtains, blankets or furniture.
