HCHS High School Students Attending Online Classes
During the COVID-19 Pandemic
on the S.Y. 2020-2021
THE FINDINGS
Due to the pandemic brought on by Coronavirus disease, students may not go to school. Therefore, the Department of Education (DepEd) resorted to a different kind of learning method: online, modular, and blended learning.
Holy Cross High School (HCHS) offered three (3) learning methods for pre-school until junior high school, while it offered only online learning for senior high school. Because of this reason, the researchers chose this investigation, which is the junior and senior high school students of Holy Cross High School undertaking the online learning method.
On August 25, 2020 classes began at HCHS, it has been a long time ever since the students from different year levels of HCHS have seen each other and a phenomenon like the COVID-19 pandemic is not quite common, thus the researchers thought of different ideas for their project in Research Capstone headed by Engr. Sami Khayat, Ph.D. They then came up with the idea to document the students’ activities and thoughts while they are undertaking online classes.
In February 2021, the researchers then distributed online survey questionnaires to one-hundred and twenty (120) students through the means of Google Forms. Future researchers may use the gathered data in their own respective studies, as this documented data will serve as a glimpse of the situation of high school students during the Coronavirus disease pandemic.
