MARY IMMACULATE PARISH (1965) 天主教無玷聖母堂
Mary Immaculate Parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dumaguete was established in 1965. It is located in the City of Dumaguete, Province of Negros Oriental. The Parish Fiesta is celebrated every 8th day of December.
It is known as a unique church because it is a parish that is not territorial. Other parishes like Bagacay and Tinago are territorial. It's a church that is known as a personal parish for Filipino-Chinese Catholics in Negros Oriental.
Fr. Paul Chi was the one who started the church in 1965, the parish priest who served 41 years up to 2006 after him, the other priest who will serve the church will only have 6 years of service.
The church belongs to Lorenzo Mission Society.
The Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Society, a Pious Union of Missionary Priests of the Archdiocese of Manila, was founded in 1997. It is regarded as one of the mission societies created in Asian local churches. It is a society that is intended to help the Filipino-Chinese Apostolate in the Philippines, the local churches in China, and Taiwan, although it is primarily intended for missio ad gentes (refers to the Church's outreach to everyone, paying special attention to those who have not yet received a message of salvation). The seminary branch of the Lorenzo Ruiz Mission Society is housed in the Lorenzo Mission Institute, which was established in 1987.
